Bintan, a Magical Tourists Revelation

Bintan is not an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, but this place will spring a wonderful surprise

Bintan Island is quite simply a magical place where you can find everything you need from a tourist destination. It has extremely beautiful beaches, wonderful landscape panorama, and world class amenities and accommodation. Bintan is an underrated destination in a sense that it has so much to offer compared to its general popularity.

The capital of Kepulauan Riau (Riau Archipelago) Province, Tanjung Pinang, is located on the western part of this island. Bintan is extremely popular with tourists from Singapore and Malaysia because of their proximity to the island. There are countless option for tourist destinations in Bintan, from a virtually untouched natural attractions to world class man-made wonders.

Otherworldly Lake and Desert

On the west part of the island, there is a bizarre view. There is a sand dune in the middle of a fertile tropical island. The Busung Desert, as locals call it, is not a natural dune. There was a bauxite mine in this area and the desert is actually the leftover of that mine.

In the southern part of the island, another mining remains creates another extraterrestrial vista. The Blue Lake was also a bauxite mine that turns into a beautiful pond with fluorescent blue water.

To state the obvious, the first attraction in Lagoi is its white beach with palm trees. But that’s just a small part of what this area has to offer. An actual luxury glamping is available at The Canopi resort. Watersports is available at Bintan Wake Park, where you can choose the tamest to the most extreme one.

You might even enjoy the scenery from above at Air Adventures Flying Club. World class food on floating restaurants, as well as magnificent golf course are also available. Paintball arena, shooting range, and ATV rental are waiting for the adventurers to come. The highlights is the man made lagoon, the biggest in Southeast Asia.

Bintan Lagoon Resort

Bintan Lagoon Resort is a world class resort area located at Pasir Panjang Beach. It covers 300 hectares that covers beautiful beaches as well as world class golf course. Trikora Beaches

On the northeastern part of the island, the coastline is dominated with white sand beaches that stretched so long it had to be divided into four parts. The most famous one is Trikora Beach Four, located on the northernmost part of the coast. This area is not yet developed fully as other beaches, but it is somewhat still preserve its natural beauty. You can try kite surfing or take a kelong tpur to see how locals catch fish.

How to get to Bintan and what to do there

Bintan is geographically very close to Singapore and Malaysia, most people from those countries usually opt to enter the island by sea. There are several operators providing ferry services to Tanjung Pinang. Foreign yachts are allowed to enter Indonesian waters by just registering online.

Flights from Jakarta and several other cities in Indonesia are also available to Raja Haji Fisabililah Airport. To get around the island, you cannot rely on public transport yet. It’s a huge island and you need to rent a car to go from one side to another. Next
