Kota Tua

Literally means ‘Old City’, this is the original downtown area of Jakarta (or Batavia as it was known back then). There are many Dutch-styles buildings and structures in this area, most of them were built during the 17th century. It is quite a large place and the most popular place is the Fatahhilah Museum, especially its large front yard. Furthermore, this is where youngsters usually gather in the afternoon.

The name explains it all really. This is a 140-hectare zoo located in Ragunan, South Jakarta. The setting is a lush tropical forest in the city. It has more than three thousands of animal specimens, including aviary and primate center. Ragunan Zoo is 150 years old, making it one of the oldest and largest in the world. The zoo is usually closed every Monday, except during holidays.
