Bukit Selong (Selong Hill) is a vantage point where you can enjoy the stunning view of one side of Sembalun. Located at the feet of the magnificent Mount Rinjani, Selong Hill is overlooking a plateau that functions as the northern part of Sembalun’s farming field.

Location
Selong Hill is easily reachable via roads from Sembalun Village. You don’t even need to do much hiking to get to the hill if you come here with your own vehicle or rent it. From the main road of the village, you just need to follow the trek that will bring you to the first viewing platform.
Two-tiered platform
There are two viewing tiers in Selong Hill. The first one is a flat natural viewpoint with only a bare ground next to a cliff. There is a small bamboo forest right under the cliff, with its canopy acts as a frame for the scenery that you are seeing in front of you.
If you want an even higher and better view, you can climb a little and you’ll find a red wooden platform in the form of a six-pointed star. This star was constructed for the sole purpose of creating beautiful photos with an even lovelier background. If you come here during the weekend, you’ll find out that you have to take the turn for a photo.
Overlooking rice and farm fields
Both viewpoints will present you with a magnificent view of colorful farm fields with a rugged hill in the background. In some seasons, you can see different colors in each plot of the land. These patches of colors create a rather surreal view.
Great at sunrise and sunset
The best time to actually visit this hill is during sunrise and sunsets. For one, there will be less crowd, so you will have the place for only yourself. Aside from that, the lighting during those times would be perfect for illuminating the overall panorama.
Nearby attractions
Like said previously, there are many wonderful tourist destinations you can visit nearby. Pusuk Sembalun and Pergasingan hill offer similar scenery to Selong, only the background view is different.
Beleq Village is an old and traditional settlement that adhere to strict code of local wisdom, great destination if you love to learn about traditions. There are also several wonderful waterfalls you can visit nearby.
