Location
Administratively, Embung Batara Sriten is located in Sriten, Pilangrejo, Nglipar District, Gunung Kidul Regency. It is 25 kilometers away from downtown Yogyakarta. The route to this place can be a bit challenging, especially in the latter parts. However, you can reach the pond by riding your bike or motorcyle.
This reservoir was inaugurated by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuono X in 2014. Since then, Embung Batara Sriten slowly becomes more and more popular to tourists. Open daily from early hours to after sunset, the entrance fee to this spot is very cheap, only IDR5000.
Enjoying the sunset
Most people who visit this place is looking for its wonderful sunset. Unlike when you see the sunset at the beach, there is no shiny water to reflect the golden late sun. Instead, you will have the panorama of green fields and forest all the way to the horizon. The location of the reservoir enables you to have an unobstructed view toward the horizon.
